Here is a very nice tutorial showing to use different kind of effects on a animated line following the mouse. The tutorial is develop with actionscript 3.0 so you need at least Adobe CS3 to work with this tutorial.

Flash and Actionscript for me is the future. I used Flash since Macromedia Flash 4 and from that day till today I still keep on saying this is the future. Flash is a amazing tool and his player is the most popular player around the world. For those who aren’t convince about Flash imagine this… Kids today at least they got Nintendo DS for them everything is animated, dynamic, fast, colorfull even 3D. Imagine then when this kids grow up what will be your offer for a website or a application? Static HTML?!

Like every programmer should know, we as programmers do not redesign the wheel. Why? Cause on this days the faster you do a good work, the more job demand you will get. Clients don’t care about how you do it, all they want is to see the program work for what they need it for. Working with Flash sometimes take a lot of time, specially when the client doesn’t explain clearly what he wants.
