Actionscript 3.0 is completely new, it doesn’t have any relation with his older versions, for me AS 3.0 is more close to Java. The only difference between the two is the amount of classes and some syntax. Yeah it has some syntax that looks different but as Object Oriented language they look the same, if you know Java already it will be easy to know AS 3.0 and vice versa. Other thing that make them different one from each other is that Java is a bigger language, more robust and on more devices than AS 3.0. In other hand AS 3.0 got a lighter player compare to Java Virtual Machine and is more visual as a Object Oriented Programming. Security is one of the most important things people and customer worry about. Java is more secure than Flash that’s why I post this very simple tutorial that explain how to secure Flash content with PHP.

Flash and Actionscript for me is the future. I used Flash since Macromedia Flash 4 and from that day till today I still keep on saying this is the future. Flash is a amazing tool and his player is the most popular player around the world. For those who aren’t convince about Flash imagine this… Kids today at least they got Nintendo DS for them everything is animated, dynamic, fast, colorfull even 3D. Imagine then when this kids grow up what will be your offer for a website or a application? Static HTML?!

Actionscript 3.0 is getting more popular every second, from YouTube to mobile devices the Flash Player and Actionscript are getting into new environments and users are more than enthusiast with this changes. When people ask me how I learn Flash the first think that say to them is that “Today is a good date to begin with Flash and AS”. Why ? because AS has change a lot since the “tell target”. Today AS is almost a language, is based on OOP and is very similar to Java but for me easier, lighter and with less classes. But like any language or program, to know more of it you need to practice, more practice and much more practice.

For those like me that are starting to get into Actionscript 3.0 from Actionscript 2.0 I got good news. I find this article from Collin Moock the creator of the great book Essential Actionscript 3.0.
